To achieve continued growth and development in the industry, it is the time to make a transition from the present industrial structure to a knowledge-based industrial structure.
Another requirement is fostering energy specialists and stimulating systematic research to develop the energy industry, which is currently facing supply and demand issues. The Graduate School of Knowledge Based Technology and Energy provides Master's and Doctoral programs in order to meet these requirements.
In order to respond to rapid changes in the industrial technologies and to train professionals capable of developing creative technology required by the industry, we provide Knowledge Based Technology programs in Engineering and E-business. And our graduate programs for Energy Technology receive grants through the human resource development program of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. There are programs in Electrical engineering, Applied thermo-fluid engineering, Chemotronics(fuel cell and battery), New materials, and Energy policy. We have several research laboratories for advanced superconductor systems, fuel cells, thermo-fluid systems, intelligent electric technologies, and an energy policy center. The Graduate School also provides career education for professionals in the energy industries, high energy-use industries and energy-related organizations.
Graduate students conduct practical research and development with their advisors. In the laboratories, the students work on R&D projects commissioned by companies and government projects for new technology development. The Graduate School has a project credit system in which research results are counted as credit, and which aids the students to develop practical research capabilities as well as theoretical knowledge.
The Graduate School is located in an industrial park, which facilitates cooperation with industrial corporations. This contributes to the growth of the University into an industrial and academic cooperative center for the knowledge-based industries. My very best wishes for an outstanding educational experience at the Korea Polytechnic University.
